But you have to make sure that you use these channels in a way that suits your line of business and the resources you can dedicate. But above all you have to ask yourself “will I reach my target audiences”? The answer depends on a number of factors. General considerations like the “social media penetration” among the people you want to reach are not enough.
They may all be very tech savvy and you may still not be able to reach them because they do not use social media in a professional capacity or at work. But to complicate the matter further it may still be a good idea to engage in social media if you can reach them outside work. It may be even better. You can never be quite sure beforehand but it is still a good idea to size up the problem and way pros and cons against each other before getting going.
When you have settled that matter you have to find a tone of voice that appeals to your audiences. That may very well prove to be the trickiest part because audiences on the Internet are in general very sensitive to disguised marketing efforts. Your communication has to be perceived as genuine and honest.
Once you’ve got these things in place you have a very promising opportunity to establish a relationship with your customers and prospects that builds confidence and loyalty.
